Mutual Funds’ Net Buy Recorded at IDR21trn

Unlike government bond, demand for IDR denominated corporate bonds dominated by local investors. The biggest holders of local corporate bond is mutual fund with its ownership accounted for 25.6% of total outstanding. As of October 2016, mutual funds manages also recorded the biggest net buy this year as they added a total of IDR21 trillion YTD, nearly double than whole year net buy of Rp 13 trillion in 2015. The next largest net buyers were insurance and banking that added a total of IDR12 trn and Rp10.2trn respectively. Meanwhile, foreign net buy remains thin at IDR598bn year to date (as of end October 2016). Foreign ownership in corporate bonds also continues to shrink, down to 6.32% of total outstanding from 7.25% last year.
